Hello fellow journalists,
Welcome to week 2 and thank you for the tasks on Module 1 which I have received.
There were some excellent contributions on how global warming was affecting your local audiences and some moving descriptions of the most powerful story you have seen. The stories which involved and refelected on your own regions were the most compelling. And a good reminder to always think of answering the silent question from our audience, which is "why should I watch this and be interested in this story?". Journalists must always answer this.
And I am looking forward to hearing from those of you who haven't yet sent me the tasks for Module 1.
Now in Module 2 we move from theory to the very hands-on practical aspects on television news discussing Shooting and Audio. These vital craft skills are not just something to be left to camera and sound operators. In fact some of you may well also be camera operators or may learn in the future as many stations move to multi-skilling.
But even if you never hold a camera or sound equipment in your career, a thorough knowledge of shooting and audio skills will improve your news stories.
If you want to skip straight to Module 2, click here, or follow the links on the module timetable.
Have fun!
with best regards
